A WORD FOR TODAY 10 AUGUST 2021

A WORD FOR TODAY

SERVE THE LORD WITH YOUR LIFE AND GOD WILL HONOUR YOU

_"The point is this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."(2 Corinthians 9:6-10)_

_*Today we celebrate the feast of St. Lawrence, a deacon and martyr who gave His life for the sake of God's kingdom. His martyrdom made a deep impression in the lives of the people at that time and it is something we must emulate in this era if we intend to see God on the last day.*_

_Lawrence was Incharge of all the Church property and finances, but when he was told to submit them to be used by the emperor, he simply sold everything, shared the money to the poor and gathered the blind, lame, lepers, widows, orphans and many other indigent persons and brought them before the emperor as the true treasures of the Church. This angered the prefect and he ordered that Lawrence be roasted to death over a slow burning fire._

_*As the first reading of today says, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Lawrence generously gave his life for the Church and for the poor and today He is in heaven and he has become a hero and inspiration for the pilgrim Church on earth.*_

_If you are going to be honoured by God on the last day, you must generously serve Him well here on earth. Proclaim the Good News with your life and be generous to the poor and needy around you. Be ready to lay down your life for others and your reward will be great in heaven._

_*When you serve the Lord in the people generously, He will continue to make provision for you that will help you to do more good and bring glory and honour to His name. He will provide for you and you will have abundance and will not lack.*_

_Therefore, it is not a waste of time when you volunteer your services for the good of others or use your gift to help others. Be generous with your life, do good always with what God has given you. Be ready always to die for the sake of Christ and be rest assured that your sacrifices will never be in vain. God will reward you and you shall see him face to face on the last day._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊 as you do your work and do have a wonderful day. May God's grace help you to stand up for what is right without being afraid of persecution and death. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you:the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* 2 Corinthians 9:6-10/Psalm 112:1-2,5-9/John 12:24-26

*Watch-Word:* It goes well for the man who deals generously and lends.

*Never stop doing good, even if you will be killed for it. Stand in the side of truth always.*

(Tuesday of the 19th week in the ordinary time. Year 1. Feast of St. Lawrence)
