A WORD FOR TODAY 12 JUNE 2019

A WORD FOR TODAY

Sometimes we act and behave as if we are the ones who give ourselves life. We brag and act as if we made ourselves come into this earth. The truth has to be told at all times and we must strive to be humble and submit ourselves to the power that made us come.

Saint Paul reminds us in the first reading that we are not sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God who has qualified us to participate in the new life as God's children. We are guided by the Spirit who will help us to obey God's law always for the Spirit gives life.

If we do not submit to the Holy Spirit, it will be difficult for us to obey the law of God just as Jesus tells us in the gospel reading that He did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfil them. If we must be friends to Jesus, we must strive everyday to keep His commandments.

Obeying God's commandment should be our top priority, because that is the only way we will show the world that we belong to Christ. We must open ourselves to the Holy Spirit so that He will help us to do what the Lord commands and by so doing we shall find life.

Our obedience to God's law must be total without compromise, because it will determine whether we shall be called great or least in the kingdom of heaven. Faithfulness to God will imply faithfulness to His Word and it is by doing this that we will show the Lord that we truly love Him.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a splendid day. May the Holy Spirit help you to always do what the Lord commands. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: 2 Corinthians 3:4-11/Psalm 99:5-9/Matthew 5:17-19

Watch-Word: Teach me your paths, O Lord, guide me in your truth.

If you love the Lord, you must be ready to obey His commandments without compromise.
