A WORD FOR TODAY

BE STILL AND HEAR GOD SPEAK

_And there he came to a cave, and lodged there; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said to him, What are you doing here, Elijah? (1 Kings 19:9-10)_

God speaks everyday, but it is only those who have the rightful disposition that will be able to hear Him. However, one thing is vital in terms of hearing what the Lord will say. We may hear, but If we do not make up our mind to hearken to His voice, we may never do what He wants and it will not bring us joy in the end.

Elijah was able to hear the voice of the Lord as he went to the mountain and stayed alone in the presence of the Lord in quietness. We must learn to come before the Lord always and be still before Him so as to hear His voice.(Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10). If we do not create the atmosphere conducive for us to hear God's voice, we may never hear Him nor understand when He speaks._

To be still before the Lord is to wait upon Him in prayerful disposition, because God is always communicating and revealing Himself to us and only those who value the virtue of silence will be able to hear Him when He speaks. Noise will distract us from hearing God's voice and the level of noise we have in the world at the moment is on the rise through various channels, TV, social media platforms, pictures, cell phones and so on. These days, it is very difficult for some persons to enter into quietness so as to be able to pray well and communicate with the divine.

The message in the gospel reading of today is one of the things that God communicates to us when we listen to Him. We must guard our heart so that sin will not take root in it. Identify what makes you to sin and get rid of it by avoidance or by discipline and chastisement and your righteousness will blossom again.

If you intend to cure evil thoughts in your heart, you must perform good actions and fill your heart with good thoughts. Engage yourself in doing God's work by doing service that will impart lives and you will not have time to think evil thoughts. Do not stay idle, but do something positive and evil will not take hold or root in you. Create time in your daily schedule to seek the face of God and in that way, you will receive from Him the spiritual strength and power to overcome every temptation that comes your way and your heart will become pure to serve Him always.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a splendid day. May God hear your prayers when you enter into spiritual silence and may He give you thr grace and power to overcome the concupiscence of the flesh. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: 1 Kings 19:9,11-16/Psalm 27:7-9,13-14/Matthew 5:27-32

Watch-Word: It is your face, O Lord, that I seek; hide not your face from me.

Stay away from noise, identify and unplug the switch of distraction from your life (place, persons or things) and you will hear God's voice again and if you do what He says, you will shine out once again.
