A WORD FOR TODAY 13 SEPTEMBER

*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*IN CHRIST WE ARE ONE*

_"For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, Jews or Greeks, slaves or free and all were made to drink of one Spirit."(1 Corinthians 12:12-13)_

_*The reason we continue to see elements of division among us in this life is because of our lack of understanding of what God wants from us as His children and how He wants us to live our lives in His honour.*_

_Division comes when we act selfishly and not selflessly, when we feel that we are superior and nore intelligent than others, when we see ourselves being better in everything than others. This definitely will cause division and make us to act against God's will and purpose in life._

_*St. Paul reminds us in the first reading of today that we are members of the body of Christ because by one Spirit we have been baptised into Him. We are from different cultures, we speak different languages, we have different colours, but in Christ we are one for we are simply made in the image and likeness of God.*_

_If we understand the purpose God has for us and the task He has assigned us and then try our possible best to carry it out, we will all be contributing immensely for the reign of God and the unity of us all in this world. Everyone has a role to play, this we must all recognize if we wish to be united. Some are teachers, some prophets, some apostles, some helpers and healers, some speakers administrators and workers of miracle. Discover who you are, live it out and play your God given part in the body of Christ. No one person in life has it all, you have some and others complement with what you don't have and this makes life beautiful._

_*Unity is possible if we follow the way of God and the teachings of Jesus Christ, but we fight and quarrel because of selfishness and pride. We must be humble to let everyone play their role in the body of Christ because what unites us is much more than what divides us.*_

_We see Jesus restore to life the son of the widow at Nain as we have recorded in the gospel reading. We must learn to come to Him in our times of need for He can make all things well. We must also learn from Him to give a helping hands to those who may be in need at anytime in the course of our activities. He saw the pain in the heart of the widow and He restored her joy. As members of His body, we must do the same for we are all one in Christ. When one is in pain we shall be in pain with the person, but when one is rejoicing we shall also rejoice with him or her._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a blessed day. May Jesus come to you and wipe away your tears and may He give you the grace to constantly work for the unity of all. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* 1 Corinthians 12:12-14,27-31/Psalm 100:1-5/Luke 7:11-17

*Watch-Word:* We are his people, the sheep of his flock

*God is love and we must love others as He has loved us for we are one in Christ Jesus.*
