A WORD FOR TODAY

DO EVERYTHING IN LOVE

"And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing."(1 Corinthians 13:2)

When we meditate about God and all that He has done for us, we are moved to see that everything He did for us from creation, to growth, to sending His Son Our Lord Jesus Christ to come and die for us, was done in love and if we wish to follow Him and be His disciples, we must also aim to do all things in love.

Saint Paul gives us a beautiful explanation of what love is and why we should desire it as the greatest of all the gifts that God has given us. When we do great things, make a moving speech, but there is no love in our heart, all we have done will amount to nothing, because whatever we do in this life without love will simply amount to nothing and will fetch us no reward._

When we have true Agape love in our heart, we will see ourselves living out what the Lord has given us in the commandments. The virtue of patience, humility, kindness, generosity, endurance and faith will be manifest in us and those who encounter us in words and actions will simply see Jesus in us.

God has shown us what love is by sending His Son to come and die for us in order to win us over to Himself. He gave us a free-will to make the choice of what we want and who to follow, but the heart of man is always tilting towards perversity and obstinacy. We must try as much as we can to let the love of God move us to love Him and then we will be ready to let Him rule and reign in us always._

We must grow from childish mentality to being mature Christians who are no longer ruled or controlled, by mere emotions, but by sincere and honest reasoning characterised and controlled by the love of God. We must let God's love conquer us and we will be ready to love as He has loved us. If you will do charity, do it in love, if you will speak, speak with love, if you will pray, do it with love, if you will help, let love be at the foundation of all that you do and you will please the Lord. Love is patient and kind, love is not jealous or boastful, it is not arrogant or rude. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things. Love is indeed the greatest and mother of all the virtues.

Today we celebrate the memorial of Saints Cornelius and Cyprian. They were friends, but worked separately in their tasks to defend the Church from those who were fighting against her. St Cornelius was Bishop in Rome while St. Cyprian was bishop at Carthage. They gave up their possessions for the good of the Church and for the people of God. Let us learn from them to use our positions in life to serve God in the people and be ready to die for Him.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a splendid day. May God help you to love and to do all things in love. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:13/Psalm 33:2-5,12,22/Luke 7:31-35

Watch-Word: So faith, hope and love abide, but the greatest of these is love.

Let the love of God dwell in your heart and you will always show people in words and actions what it means to be a true disciple of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
