A WORD FOR TODAY

IN HIM IS OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS

_"In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’(Jeremiah 23:6)_

_*The prophecies of the old testament about the Son of man came to be fulfilled in the new testament when Christ was born. The beauty of His birth is not just that He was born, but that through His coming humanity will be saved.*_

_The prophet Jeremiah in the first reading of today tells us that the Lord will raise up for David a righteous branch and he shall reign as king and execute justice and righteousness in the land. This is a consoling word of hope to a people who have suffered in the hands of evil and selfish kings._

_*He is called, the Lord is our righteousness. This means that in Him we shall be holy and live a life worthy of our calling. Righteousness is the life we are called to live in Christ and anyone who makes the choice to follow Him must be ready to live a holy life.*_

_The gospel reading of today tells us how Jesus came to be born. The Angel told Joseph what His role will be in the upbringing of the king who will be born. He was a just and holy man and was not ready to embarrass the Blessed Virgin Mary. He obeyed God's instruction and played the part of a good foster father. The son of God was given the name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. In Jesus, God came to be with us and anyone who follows Him will walk in the light of life._

_*Since the Lord is our righteousness, we must make effort to draw closer to Him so that we will live a life worthy of our calling. We cannot claim to love Jesus if we continue to live in sin. His grace is sufficient for us, therefore, we must cooperate with His grace and we shall be holy as He has called us to be.*_

_Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a splendid day. May Jesus the Holy give you grace to be Holy like Him. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Jeremiah 23:5-8/Psalm 72:1-2,12-13,18-19/Matthew 1:18-24

*Watch-Word:* And you shall call His name Jesus

*God is holy and anyone who wish to follow Him must be holy. work on yourself and you will be holy also.*
