A WORD FOR TODAY

Yesterday we read about how Abraham dialogued with God in prayer and interceded for the City of Sodom oand Gomorrah not to be destroyed and God was ready to do as he requested, but it was difficult to find a righteous man in the City. Lot and his family at the mercy of God was saved and they were told to flee for their lives without looking back.

Lot and His family were given the opportunity to escape, but they were very unwilling probably because of the attachment they have developed with the place even with the evil that is being committed there. We must learn to live a righteous life and stay away from sin because it kills and will bring disaster. Once we have set off on the journey of following God we must march forward and not look back. Looking back will mean that we are desiring evil more than God Himself who is our righteousness.

God's mercy is always seeking us out to save us even when we have committed the gravest of sins and still showing signs of unwillingness to repent, however we must rise, listen to his voice and make amends. He does not want us to die, but to be saved, therefore we must return back to Him and begin to live a life worthy of our calling.

We also see a manifestation of God's mercy in the lives of the disciples of Jesus as recorded in the gospel reading of today. They were afraid when they encountered the storm even as Jesus was in the boat with them, but they woke Him up in panic and He calmed the storm. However he rebuked them for their lack of faith.

We should not be afraid when we are with Jesus, because He will always take care of us and His mercy will save us. We must always respond to situations we face in life with total trust and faith in God that He will deliver us and not with fear. God can do all things, therefore we should let our faith grow in Him and we will not be defeated by the forces of evil and sin.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a wonderful day. May Jesus' mercy save you from the power of sin and death. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: Genesis 19:15-29/Psalm 26:2-3,9-10,11-12/Matthew 8:23-27

Watch-Word: Save us Lord, we are perishing!

If you listen to God's voice you will not be led astray and He will save you when evil and 'destructive storms' lurk around you.
