A WORD FOR TODAY

YOUR GUARDIAN ANGEL IS AT YOUR SERVICE

“Behold, I send an angel before you, to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place which I have prepared. Give heed to him and hearken to his voice, do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgression; for my name is in him." (Exodus 23:20-21)_

Today we celebrate the memorial of the Guardian Angels. The word angel comes from the Greek word Angelos which means messenger. They are spiritual beings who are at the service of God and also at our service and they glorify God perpetually without ceasing.

Our Guardian Angels are those whom the Lord has assigned specifically to watch over us and their roles in our lives are unquantifiable. They are always reaching out to us and helping us in different areas even when we are not consciously aware that they are there.

Our guardian angels not only watch over us to keep us safe from danger, especially the dangers of falling into sin and from the malice of the devil and from other physical evil, they also have the responsibility of guiding us in the choices we make in life and help us to present our petitions before God so that in the end we shall make heaven and join them to worship our Saviour forever.

_The first reading of today tells us that the Lord has sent his angels to guard his people Israel on their way and to bring them to the place He has prepared for them. We are the new Israel and His Angels are still playing the same role now as they played in the time of our fathers in faith. We are expected to listen to our Guardian Angels and do what they instruct us and we shall conquer all things that comes to us as a challenge.

We must honour our guardian angels daily by reciting the prayer to your guardian Angel, live a holy life and try as much as you can to honour God in your work and activities and to be the light through whom others can come to know Him.*_

As our guardian Angels take care of us for God, we must strive to become angels to others who come our way. This will happen when we show love to those in need and guide others in the path of goodness and also help them to find success in life. St. Bernard says, "Revere your Guardian Angel! Be grateful for the care he bestows upon you. Have confidence in him, love him, and turn to him to entreat his protection in every difficulty, danger and temptation."

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a wonderful day. May God's angels watch over you and may you be an angel to someone today. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Exodus 23:20-23/Psalm 91:1-6,10-11/Matthew 18:1-5,10

*Watch-Word:* For you has he commanded His angels, to keep you in all your ways.

*Angel of God, my guardian dear, To whom God's Love commits me here, ever this day, be at my side, to light and guard, rule and guide. Amen.*
