A WORD FOR TODAY

LOVE THE LIGHT AND HATE EVIL

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him" (John 3:16-17)_

The simple reason why the apostles were arrested and put in prison is because of the jealousy of the high priest and the party of the Saducees as we have recorded in the first reading of today.

The authorities were not happy with the success they (the apostles) were recording in winning souls. They were preaching Christ as the light and salvation of the world and many souls were being delivered from darkness to light. However, because the heart of the Sadducees were filled with darkness, they did everything possible to quench the light, but the more they tried, the more the apostles continued to shine.

They called upon the Lord in their time of incarceration in prison and the Lord sent an angel to come to their aid and set them free, with the command that they should go and stand in the temple and continue to proclaim the Good News. This is what happens to those who have faith. God is with us and He does not abandon us in our times of persecution and pain. We must look up to Him and call upon Him with faith and He will surely deliver us and set us free.

If we make a decision to preach the Good News of salvation, which is simply a Good News of love which the Father has lavished upon us by sending his Son to come and die for us, then we will be in the light and we shall represent the light.

When we love Christ who is the light, we will be ready to proclaim His name and let the world know about Him. We will not be deterred by the persecutions and hatred that will come to us from those who dwell in darkness. As children of God we must be the light of the world and represent Christ always so that through us souls will be won.

To believe in Jesus is to have eternal life and anyone who is in Christ has become a new creation, the old things has passed away, behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17). If we are going to gain eternal life, we must love the light and hate darkness. We must become children of the light and strive everyday to win more souls into God's kingdom through our good works.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a wonderful day. May Jesus help you to shine out as the light always and may you win souls through your witnessing. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: Acts 5:17-26/Psalm 34:2-9/John 3:16-21

Watch-Word: The lowly one called, and the Lord heard him.

You can suffer when you choose to be the light instead of darkness, but God will not abandon you
