TAKE YOUR CASE TO GOD IN PRAYER

_"Hezeki′ah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezeki′ah went up to the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord. And Hezeki′ah prayed before the Lord, and said: “O Lord the God of Israel, who art enthroned above the cherubim, thou art the God, thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth."(2 Kings 19:14-15)_

Challenging and difficult times will always come to those who believe in God from time to time, but what they do when it does come will show the level of their faith in God. If you truly believe in God you will trust Him to take care of you in good times and in bad and you will never lose hope no matter what comes to you.

The story of the first reading of today is one that encourages us not to be afraid, but to always take our matter to God in prayer at all times, believing that He will hear us and will come to our aid and save us. Hezekiah received a threatening news from Sennacherib king of Assyria, but he did not let the fear of what the king has vowed to do to the people of Israel stop him from believing in what the Lord can do. He took his case to God in prayer and God heard his voice and delivered him and his people.

We must learn from this story not to give up at any point in time and also we should not be afraid no matter the circumstances, instead, we should have faith in God and always call upon Him in our times of trouble, because He will never abandon us, but will send His angels to fight our battle as they did for Hezekiah and his people. There is power in prayer and He who can pray with faith will always overcome.

Hezekiah chose the path that leads to God instead of submitting to become a slave in the hands of the wicked king of Assyria. This should always be our priority in life. We have two ways placed before us, the way that leads to life and that which leads to death. We must make a choice of which way to follow. However, Jesus tells us in the gospel reading that the way that leads to life is narrow and hard, but that which leads to destruction and death is wide and easy. Therefore, we must strive to enter by the narrow gate if we are going to be with Him in heaven on the last day.

Do not be afraid of that news of threat you have received in your business or work place. The news about your health, family, vocation, projects and plans. Take your matter to Jesus in prayer in the Blessed Sacrament, in the sacrifice of the mass, in your private prayers and let Him fight your battle. You have to put your trust in Him and not on other gods that cannot save. Let Him take care of those who are threatening to destroy you and who out of their stupidity have mocked His holy name. The battle is for the Lord and He can never fail, but will always deliver those who put their trust in Him.

Do not let what people say make you become afraid and fail to see the greatness of your God who can save you from the hands of the evil one.
