A WORD FOR TODAY 23 SEPTEMBER 2020

*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*PROCLAIM THE GOOD NEWS AND HEAL THE WORLD*

_"And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal."(Luke 9:1-2)_

_*The choice of Jesus for the twelve apostles was to help fast track the mission of proclaiming the gospel to the ends of the earth. They were to go in His name and their words are to bring hope, life and salvation to those who hear and encounter them.*_

_Jesus gave them power and authority, but He also instructed them to be simple and humble in their proclamation so as to be able to win souls. They were to totally depend on God who make provisions for them and that will help them not to be distracted in their mission._

_*To be a disciple of Jesus, you must be ready to make sacrifices to be able to proclaim the Good News in words and actions and the things you do will heal the world and make it a better place.*_

_We are called by Jesus to use our position to make the world a better place. What you do must make an impact in people and the world, if not, then you are not doing well. This is a mission we have from God and we must not fail Him, because He has put this responsibility on our shoulder._

_*To be able to carry out this task we must love the truth and be contented. We must, as the first reading admonishes us, aim to ask God to give us only that which will be enough for us, so that we will not have much and forget him or have less and profane his name. We must use our gifts and talents to spread love, peace, joy and blessings and through us the world will be healed and witness progress.*_

_Today we celebrate the memorial of Saint Pius of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio 1887-1968). He was born in southern Italy and joined the Capuchin Friars at the age of 16. He became a priest and spent most of his life at the monastery at San Giovanni Rotondo. He was sought after as a spiritual advisor, confessor and intercessor. He had the stigmata and many miracles were ascribed to him during his life time. Let us learn from Him to be holy and to use our gifts to glorify God and win souls for Him._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a beautiful day. May God help you to proclaim His name always in words and deed. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Proverbs 30:5-9/Psalm 119:29,72,89,101,104,163/Luke 9:1-6

*Watch-Word:* Your word is a lamp for my feet, Lord.

*You can do so much good with the gifts that God has bestowed on you. Use it for His glory and you will heal the world.*
