A WORD FOR TODAY

Jesus gave us a new commandment as his followers and it is simply something good we cannot do without. We must love God with all our heart and then come to love our neighbour as ourselves. However, this expression of love must follow his standard which will make you love even those who persecute you as He did to those who crucified Him.

David had the opportunity of destroying Saul his enemy who caused him a lot of pain as we have in the first reading, but he had compassion on him and said I will not later my hands on the Lord’s anointed. Instead he allowed God to be the judge.

True love makes a lot of sacrifice that will bring good to the other even when they have done you wrong. This is the example Jesus gave to us when He was dying on the cross, He prayed for forgiveness for those who hurt Him badly.

To love our friends is something good to do, but when we love those who have caused us pain and hurt as Jesus did, we are doing something higher in terms of being like Him and our reward will surely be great.

Do not pray for the death of your enemy or try to kill them, rather, show them love as Christ has shown to you and let the power of love and compassion make them to change and receive salvation.

God's mercy abounds for us everyday even as we offend Him on a daily basis, but He still loves us and is ever ready to welcome us back. We must also do the same to those who have offended us and in that manner we will surely be like Him who has called us to follow Him.

The measure you give, will definitely be the measure you will receive. If you give peace, love, mercy, forgiveness, kindness, and so on, you will definitely receive the same from people. Always do unto others as you would wish them do to you.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you begin your day and do have a great Sunday. May the love of God for you move you to love even those who have hurt you. Amen. And May the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
