A WORD FOR TODAY 24 JUNE 2019

A WORD FOR TODAY

Today we celebrate the solemnity of the nativity of saint John the Baptist. It is the birthday of the forerunner of our Lord Jesus Christ, the one who came to announce of His coming before He came. He came into the world as the voice that prepared the people for the coming of the Lord. He played a very important and significant role in our salvation history and the Church in her wisdom honours him today.

John was a special gift to Zachariah and Elizabeth who served the Lord with their whole heart, but they could not give birth until when the Lord blessed them with the child John, who came and brought joy and light to their family.

We may have difficulties and challenges in life and things may not work out for us the way we want it to, however, that should not make us to abandon God or stop performing our duties and responsibility with faith. We must trust in the Lord always for He will never fail and His miracle will happen to those who believe.

John was great but he was humble and he never assumed who he was not born to be. He had a mission as a prophet and messenger set out for Him by the Lord and he carried out his task in truth and with a very high sense of commitment. He told the people that he was not the messiah but has come to prepare them for His coming.

If we are not humble and truthful we will not be able to serve the Lord well. God is gracious to us by making us to come into this world and He created us for a purpose, therefore, discovering what His mission for us is, should be our top priority so as to carry it out in a manner that will be pleasing to Him.

We must learn from the solemnity of today to always be thankful to God who has given us opportunity to do something great in His name. We must open our heart to the guidance of the Holy Spirit so that we will be led to keep performing our role in life in a manner that will bring salvation to those who are still in darkness.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a blessed new week. May God give you the grace to be humble and faithful to Him in the work that you do. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
