A WORD FOR TODAY 26 AUGUST 2022

*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*HAVE OIL IN YOUR LAMP AS YOU WAIT FOR THE LORD*

_"For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them; but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him."(Matthew 25:3-6)_

_*The greatest harm that you can do to yourself is not to be ready when you are expected to have been ready for an event or an exam after you have been informed a long time ago when it is going to take place.*_

_The result of unpreparedness is simply failure. When you do not prepare, you will not be ready and when you are not ready, you will not be able to deliver when you are called to do so._

_*The gospel reading of today presents us with the story of the ten virgins, five were wise and five were foolish. We must learn from the story of the need to be ready as we await the return of the master. The wise were ready because they have enough oil for their lamp, but the foolish were not ready, because they do not have enough.*_

_A proper assessment of yourself will be able to tell you whether you are wise or foolish. We are all waiting for the coming of the Lord, but we must wait wisely by making sure that we have oil in our lamps and enough that will service us till He returns. We must grow in virtue and holiness of life. We must do good always and share love. We must feed our soul with God's word and practise detachment._

_*Anyone who wish to be ready when the bridegroom comes must stay watchful and keep doing what is good and honourable. You must constantly show compassion to the needy and bring joy into their life.*_

_To be wise we must love Christ crucified, preach Him and be ready to share in His suffering here on earth. Our wisdom will not be of this world, but of divine. We will keep praying and living our lives according to God's standard and we will be ready to enter the banquet hall when the bridegroom arrives._

_*Every good you do in this life gives you extra oil for your lamp and the door will not be shut out on you when the Master returns. But failure to do good is simply an invitation to disaster, because you will have no oil and you will over sleep and when the bridegroom comes you will run off to go and buy and you will not find and at your return the door would have been shut, therefore be wise and get your oil now before it is too late.*_

_Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a lovely day. May Jesus give you the grace to constantly have oil in your lamp to keep it burning brightly until He returns. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* 1 Corinthians 1 17-25/Psalm 33:1-2,4-5,10-11/Matthew 25:1-13

*Watch-Word:* Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour

*Be wise and keep doing good and you will have enough oil for your lamp when the Master comes knocking at the door.*
