A WORD FOR TODAY

The faith that Abram has in God is what made all the difference in his life. Today we see how he approached God in prayer asking for a child and God was merciful to Him and told him that he was going to give him a son. Abram believed God and his faith was not shaken. He followed God and remained steadfast and the Lord made a covenant with him and fulfilled what He promised.

We need to learn from Abram to have faith in God and to always take our problems to Him in prayer. He knows us and how to help us, but we must have faith and approach Him with confidence and He will do for us what no man can do.

Our God is faithful and He does not fail to keep His promise to us. He comes to help us when we feel that there is no hope. He can do all things and anyone who follows Him will never be disappointed. Our responsibility will be to trust in Him and never doubt, for the Lord is every ready to lift us up and make His glory manifest in our lives.

In the gospel reading of today, Jesus warns us to beware of false prophets, because they are not what and who they claim to be. They may appear good on the outside, but they are killers on the inside. Therefore, as followers of Christ we must check the fruits we bear to know where we belong.

Good fruits must come from a good and sound tree and if we are good on the inside, we will bear good fruits in our attitude and character that will inspire others to come to follow Jesus.

Our fruits must be that of love, peace, patience, faithfulness, gentleness, kindness, joy, generousity, self-control as we have in (Galatians chapter 5:22-23). This will be possible if we surrender our hearts to the Holy Spirit and let Him lead us in the manner that will be pleasing to Him.

God is faithful and He can never go back on His word. Just put your total trust in Him and He will never disappoint you.
