A WORD FOR TODAY

LIVE A NEW LIFE IN CHRIST

_"He told them a parable also: No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it upon an old garment; if he does, he will tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old."(Luke 5:36_

_*Every Christian is called to believe in Jesus as the Son of God and to live a life that is modeled after Him. He came into the world to show us the way to the Father and in Him all things hold together as St. Paul tells us in the first reading. The fullness of God dwells in Him and He gave His life on the cross that we may be reconciled with the Father and have life in Him.*_

_Therefore, if you want to be known in the world as a true child of God, you must be ready to leave your old way of life and accept the new life that Jesus offers us in the gospel reading. It is a life that is not obstructed or impeded by human traditions and principles that does not help people to worship God freely._

_*The Pharisees in the gospel reading were not happy the way the followers of Jesus were living. They complained bitterly, but Jesus used the opportunity to teach them that since He is with His disciples, they should be happy and not fast. He is simply telling us that the life we live in Christ is a happy life and anyone who is in Christ should be happy and joyful.*_

_The new life we live in Christ and the old life cannot be mixed together. They are not compatible and anyone who wish to follow Jesus, must be ready to let go of the old way of living and live in accordance with God's law and commands. The law of the Lord is not burdensome, but something we must live out with joy and in freedom._

_*The presence of Jesus in our lives brings something new and if we open our hearts to accept Him as the Son of God, we shall live a life worthy of our calling and those who encounter us will truly know that the old things have passed away and new things have come.*_

_In order for us to be able to live a new life and completely abandon the old way, we must stay close to Jesus and be connected to Him. We must love Him with everything in us and also do all we can to represent Him well here on earth. We must not allow any kind of human law and rule to block us from connecting to the new life as it affected the pharisees. We must surrender to Christ and let Him reign and rule in our hearts and we shall be happy forever._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a wonderful day. May Jesus be with you and may He help you to live a new life in Him. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Colossians 1:15-20/Psalm 100:1-5/Luke 5:33-39

*Watch-Word:* Come before the Lord, singing for Joy.

*If you stay close to Jesus you will have the grace to live a new life and you will not be tired of doing good always.*
