A WORD FOR TODAY
THE LORD IS COMPASSIONATE AND GRACIOUS
_"When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd."(Matthew 9:36)_
_*The attitude of Jesus towards His disciples and those He encountered in the course of His work is something we me strive everyday to emulate. He did His work and carried out His task diligently and meticulously.*_
_If we intend to follow Him, we must be ready to do the same thing He did. He proclaimed the Good News everywhere with His life and words. He was compassionate and helped those in need. He healed the sick and assisted the needy. This we must also do if we are to be His true disciples._
Compassion is a virtue that helps us not to ignore the poor and needy around us when we come in contact with them. It moves us to offer some help no matter how little to assist someone who is in need. A compassionate heart will never ignore the cry for help that comes from someone who is in dire need of assistance.
_Jesus in the gospel reading showed empathy to the crowd because they were helpless. He immediately asked his disciples to pray for more labourers into the vineyard. This means that we have the task to do like Christ at all times and in all places. We must show compassion to others and help them to find the way and path that leads to eternal life. We have the mandate to proclaim the name of Christ. We have received without pay and we must give without pay._
_*The Lord Jesus is coming and when He comes we shall see Him and He will show us mercy and assist us in our needs. We must wait for Him and keep doing good so that we shall be found worthy upon His return.*_
_The Lord is compassionate and gracious and He will wipe away our tears and help us to be strong again. We must never give up on God for He must surely come to our aid._
