A WORD FOR TODAY

To have a share in the suffering and death of our Lord Jesus Christ is something we must aim for always as disciples of Jesus. Because to share in it is a blessing to anyone who experiences it. Peter and the rest of the disciples of Jesus, including us, have been given the mandate to go out and proclaim the Good News and this they must do without fear. We may suffer persecution, but God will be with us and will always deliver us.

The story we have in the gospel reading of today is one that shows indeed that Jesus is risen from the dead and that the resurrection story is a fact and reality that cannot the disputed. Jesus rose from the dead and He appeared to His disciples severally so as to strengthen their faith and give them the courage to go out and proclaim God's kingdom so that through our witnessing many souls will come to be saved.

The call of discipleship will entail a response and action from the one who is called. Peter denied Jesus three times and today in the gospel Jesus gave him opportunity to affirm his love for Him three times. When we claim to love Jesus it must be seen in the work that we do. Jesus loved us by showing us the way to the Father and by dying on the cross for our redemption. If we claim to love Him, we must show others the way to Him and also be willing to die for them as He died for us.

Jesus chose us to come follow Him and in order to follow Him well, we must be ready to see Him and the work that He will assign us to do as our priority. We must love Him above everyother thing and we must be ready to sacrifice ourselves for His sake. Jesus comes first above other things and in this way we will be able to witness in a manner that will be acceptable before Him without distractions.

Jesus is Risen and we must proclaim His name everywhere we go and we must be ready to suffer and die for the sake of His name, but in the end, our suffering will not be in vain, but will bring us tremendous joy and peace in heaven.

Jesus is calling us today to put our words into action. If we have professed to love Him, we must be ready to work for the good of others in His name. We must become a shepherd and guide to others and help them to find pasture. We must lead them to Christ and also show them the way that leads to life.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you begin your day and do have a blessed Sunday. May God's love for you move you to love others as Christ has loved you. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: Acts 5:27-32,40-41/Psalm 30:2,4,5-6,11-13/Revelation 5:11-14/John 21:1-19

Watch-Word: I will extol you lord for you have raised me up!

To follow Jesus and to work for Him is the best way to express our love to Him. Love of Christ must lead us to the cross.
