A WORD FOR TODAY

WAIT FOR THE LORD IN RIGHTEOUSNESS

_"But according to his promise we wait for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you wait for these, be zealous to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace."(2 Peter 3:13-14)_

_*The readings of this second Sunday of Advent encourage us to keep making sincere efforts in our preparation for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is coming and only those who are prepared and ready will meet Him when He comes.*_

_In the first reading the prophet Isaiah speaks words of hope to the people of Israel who were in exile in Babylon. He tells them not to be afraid because the Lord is coming with good tidings and He will reward everyone according to what they have done. The Lord will comfort His people and He will help them, but they must prepare for his coming by levelling every mountain. This message is still very important for us in this age and time.

_*In the second reading St. Peter admonishes the people to live righteously as they wait for the coming of the Son of man and to try as much as they can to be godly in words and deeds without blemish as they wait for the Lord's coming.*_

_In the gospel reading we are called to prepare the way of the Lord and make it straight. Jesus is coming, but He will not come to dwell in a dirty heart. Now is the time to clean up our hearts and make it a beautiful place for Him to dwell in. Our task is to level every mountain that may become an obstacle for us to welcome the Lord. Mountains of bitterness, anger, wickedness, jealousy, hatred, stinginess, immorality, unforgiveness, laziness, prayerlessness, lack of compassion, injustice, corruption e.t.c must be levelled if Jesus will come to dwell in our hearts and homes._

_*We must keep doing something positive to change our ways as we wait upon the Lord. We have a task to keep our homes (hearts) clean for the Lord to enter. There is nothing else that will please the Lord more than to see us living a holy and righteous life when He comes. This life will end one day and the best way to be ready for the Lord's coming is to keep doing good in His name and when He comes He will take us with Him to reign with Him in His kingdom.*_

_Now is not the time to waste your energy on irrelevant things. Now is the time to sincerely seek the face of the Lord and make effort to reconcile with Him and your neighbour through the sacrament of reconciliation. Start doing the good things He has commanded us to do and you will be ready to welcome Him when He Comes._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you begin your day and do have a beautiful Sunday. May God bless and keep you and may He help you to be ready when He comes. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Isaiah 40:1-5,9-11/Psalm 85:9-14/2Peter 3:8-14/Mark 1:1-8

*Watch-Word:* Prepate the way of the Lord, make Hos path straight.

_*When you do a little work everyday to make yourself a better person, you will end up becoming an inspiration to many others who will need yiur light to see and come out of darkness.*_
