A WORD FOR TODAY

FOLLOW JESUS WITH LOVE AND SHOW LOVE TO OTHERS

The task of following God is always a challenging and demanding one, because so many things will be seeking your attention at the same time. It is always a battle between what the flesh wants and what the spirit desires. However, God's instruction for us is clear and if we intend to be happy, we must follow it and we will definitely have no regrets in the end._

The commandment of the Lord is clear, that is, we must love God with our whole heart. We must believe in His Son our Lord Jesus Christ and we must love our neighbour with the same love that He has put in our heart. It is all about love and anyone who wants to follow Him and make Him happy must definitely do it through love.

Saint John reminds us that anyone who is in God will overcome the world and everything in it. Jesus conquered the world and we will conquer the world also as His children, for greater is He that is in us than he who is in the world. We must stay vigilant so that we will be able to detect false prophets and those who will come to lead us astray and make us to live in darkness and act wickedly in this life.

We must love God above all created things and we must devote our time, treasure and energy to His service always. Love of God should move us to show love to others around us. We cannot claim to love God when someone is hungry and in need around us. Be ready to share your little with others and God will smile upon you and your prayers will be answered.

Jesus came to save us and show us the way to God. He is the light and anyone who walks with Him will never operate in darkness. He proclaimed the message of repentance and as His disciples we must have faith in Him and go out to the whole world to show them that He is the way to life.

We must follow Jesus with love and we must let this love guide us in all that we do in this new year. We must show compassion to the sick needy and afflicted, we must make sacrifices to give them joy as Jesus gives us joy and in this way we are going to be true children of our heavenly Father who loves us and sent His Son to come and redeem us.

May God's love for you move you to make sacrifices that will benefit those around you and give them joy especially the needy and oppressed. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

God's commandment is love and if you want to make Him happy you must love others as He has loved you.
