*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*MAKE HASTE: GOD IS INTERESTED IN HELPING YOU*

_"The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love forthousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin....”Exodus 34:6‭-‬7)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬__

_*As we make the Christian journey, we must realise that God is very interested in helping us. Our faults and failings could be very discouraging some times. Let us not let that weigh us down because the word of God today emphasizes God’s interest in saving us.*_

_However, let us not forget that this does not take away the fact that God is just and will judge us one day. There shall come a time when the opportunity to repent and make amends will be over. Now is the season of grace and it is good we take advantage of it._

_*In the gospel, Jesus reminds us of his effort to sow good seeds in the world. Jesus is working tirelessly through his ministers to prepare you and I for the kingdom of God. We must make haste because when the time is up, nothing else can be done Jesus says in the Gospel, “he who has ears, let him hear”. Let us respond swiftly to this admonition and make amends for any sin or failing that we need to repent from. God is compassion and love. He is slow to anger and rich in mercy. Let us embrace this over flowing mercy and help from the Saviour. Jesus is very interested to help us at this moment.*_

_One’s depth of sin should not discourage him or her from approaching the throne of mercy. If God had been treating us by our sins, none of us would have made it this far. In fact, one can say that part of the Lord’s justice is his kindness and mercy shown to our frail and weak humanity. God knows we are weak and is offering to help us._

_*As we celebrate the memorial of St. Alphonsus Liguori, we are reminded of the second chance he handed to children (of the homes he set up) in order that they may get it right. it is a good time to see God’s call in the readings of today as God’s offer of another chance.*_

_Let us go out today trusting in the mercy of God and his deep love for us. Let us go with the consciousness that God loves and wants to help us. In the same way, let us make conscious effort to make amends by running to the mercy of God_
