A WORD FOR TODAY

TRUE REPENTANCE BRINGS JOY

The prophet Isaiah in the first reading of today speaks a word of hope to the people of Israel. God has pardoned their iniquity and He will welcome them into His bosom once again. This is a comforting message to a people who have gone astray and abandoned the way of the Lord. It is the will of the Lord that a sinner will repent and find salvation, than to remain in sin and perish._

The season of Advent is a time to make serious effort to amend our ways as we prepare to welcome our Lord Jesus Christ the saviour of the world. It is a time to fill up the valley and to level every mountain.The uneven ground shall become level and the rough places plain. All these simply means that we must strive everyday to remove from our lives anything that represents evil and sin, then we must desire holiness of life and do only those things that will please God and bring glory to His name.

God loves us and He is constantly searching for us when we drift away from Him to wander in sin. He seeks for us as a good shepherd seeks for his lost sheep. The shepherd does not rest until he finds it and brings it back to the fold. This is what the Lord is doing. He continues to search for us until he finds us, and there will be joy in his heart and in heaven when we disconnect ourselves from living in sin and begin to live a holy life.

God's love for us is unique and special and He wants us to be with Him at all times. It does not make him happy when we live in sin, but if we hear His voice and repent, He will welcome us back, forgive us and show us mercy. He will rejoice and the heavens will rejoice also. Repentance brings joy both to God and to the one who has repented. This is a time to return to the Lord. It does not matter how long you have been in that sin, God is ready to forgive you if you are ready to come back to Him.

God searches for us out of love and He wants us to return to Him so that our joy will be restored. He is patient and kind and does not want us to perish, but to turn around and walk towards Him. Sin brings us emptiness, sadness and pain, but repentance brings joy, peace and freedom. Hide no more, wander no more, show yourself the way you are to God, so that He will find you and save you. You may not be able to help yourself to overcome your sinful habit and attitude, but Jesus can help you. Therefore, make sincere effort to present yourself to Him and you will never be the same again.

Jesus is coming and we can welcome Him with a clean heart if we surrender ourselves to Him and make amends of our failings. He loves us and He cares about us. Our repentance will make Him happy and it will also give us joy in our heart. Waste no more time, turn around from your evil ways and you will receive mercy and eternal life from Him who loves us beyond measure.*_

Our repentance makes God happy when it is sincere. God is searching for you, show yourself to Him and He will find you and restore your joy.
