A WORD FOR TODAY 11 AUGUST 2019

A WORD FOR TODAY

The Lord has called us and chosen us to be a people for Him and He expects us to fulfill our calling by being faithful to Him and doing the things that will bring glory to His name. Our faith must be seen in our action and those who encounter us will be able to testify that we belong to God.

The author of the letter to the Hebrews in the second reading of today reminds us to build up our faith in God as Abraham did in order to please God and be able to receive the blessings that we hope for in Christ. We cannot please God without faith and to claim to be a disciple of Jesus without faith is a disaster.

Our faith in Christ will help us to live well so that when our earthly sojourn comes to an end we will be welcomed into paradise and our reward will be assured. We must stay focused and at alert always because we do not know the hour or time when our master will come for us, therefore we must never let anything of this life distract us from focusing on the things of heaven as we walk this life.

Life is a gift from God and each given life comes with a purpose and responsibility attached to it. We must strive everyday to make a positive meaning out of the life that God has given to us so that we do not we do not return back to Him with regret when the end beckons on us.

We must be ready at all times to do good and to please God. We must be ready to help others as Jesus would help them. We must be ready to hearken to the voice of God as Abraham did. We must be ready to let go of attitudes that are not in tandem with our faith practise and belief. We must not give in to laziness, but with zeal, discipline and commitment continue to live out our Christian life until the time when the Lord calls us back to Himself.

We must be on our guard always in order not to be taken unawares by the devil. The devil comes with distraction and things that will not help us to focus on God and if we let him creep into us he will make us become weak and that will come at a cost to us.

We have freedom, but our freedom must be used to do good and not evil. We must conscious of we are and who we are called to represent (God). Avoid procrastination, do the good you have to do now and be ready for the masters reward which will come at the appointed time.

Abraham inspite of his challenges in life remained faithful and God blessed him. If we stay true to our faith commitment to God who has called us to Himself, we shall definitely receive the reward of this life, but more importantly eternal life in heaven. Grow your faith, live it out and stay focused and you must surely overcome.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you begin your day and do have a magnificent Sunday. May Jesus help you to stay focused, be faithful and keep doing good until He returns. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: Wisdom 18:6-9/Psalm 33:1,12,18-20,22/Hebrews 11:1-2,8-19/Luke 12:32-48

Watch-Word: You too must stand ready at al times. Never let down your guard or you will give the devil and his agents power to control you and destroy you. Stay at alert always, have faith in God and keep doing good in His name.
