A WORD FOR TODAY

IN CHRIST WE HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO CONQUER

_"And they went into Caper′na-um; and immediately on the sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught. And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes."(Mark 1:21-22)_

_*The one thing that will help us to overcome the challenges we face in life is to know who we are in Christ and also whom God has made us to be. It is only by this knowledge that we will be able to exercise our authority in Christ and use it to do God's work and conquer our fears.*_

_Our Lord Jesus came from the Father with the singular mission to save and to give life. Our salvation came through His suffering, death and resurrection. At the beginning of His public ministry He taught the people and proclaimed the Good News and He healed the sick, cast out demons and also raised the dead to life. He did all this because He had the power and authority to do so. He was different from the Scribes who will depend on certain authorities of the law to justify their teachings, but He was His own authority._

_*We see in the first reading of today how the Father crowned Jesus with glory and honour and that we will come to be saved through His suffering and death. By belonging to Him we share in His glory and honour and authority and we have also become channels through which those who are yet to know Him will come to be with Him.*_

_The man with an unclean Spirit in the synagogue was saved by Jesus as recorded in the gospel reading, because He has the authority to save him. The demons trembled at His appearance and they cried out. He only gave a command and they came out of the man and did not torment Him anymore._

_*We are children of God and by virtue of our baptism we belong to God. Therefore, God has given us the opportunity to share in His glory and power and if we believe in Christ, the same authority that He exhibited will be made manifest in us. Our authority flows from that of Christ and we will continue to be close to Him to be able to overcome as He overcame.*_

_The new year comes with its own challenges and we should not fear if we are in Christ, we must stay focused and continue to put our trust in Him and we will definitely conquer and overcome whatever comes to us. Our authority to overcome will come from the Lord, therefore, hold unto Him firmly and you will continue to win, for He is the greatest and His authority is unquestionably the greatest.._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a beautiful day. May Jesus' authority give you the power to conquer whatever comes to you. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Hebrews 2:5-12/Psalm 8:2,5-9/Mark 1:21-28

*Watch-Word:* You have given your Son power over the works of your hands.

*In Christ we have all we need to overcome the world. Fear not, but let the Lord give you victory over your challenges.*
