A WORD FOR TODAY 13 AUGUST 2019

A WORD FOR TODAY

In the first reading of today, Moses who was about to die has to summon the people and encouraged them to stand firm and not be afraid as they make the final push to possess the land the Lord has given to them. He told Joshua not to be afraid, but to be strong and stand firm for the Lord will lead them and bring them into the land of promise.

We must learn from this story that we cannot be in a particular position in life forever, therefore, do your best now and when it is time to move on, try as much as you can to encourage those who will take over from you to stand firm and keep marching forward. Do not be the factor while other people will not succeed, instead play a vital role to see that they be the best they can be in fulfilling their mission here on earth.

Our attitude in life is very important because it plays a vital role in what we become either a good or a bad person. If we must be great in God's kingdom, Jesus tells us in the gospel reading to be childlike. We cannot win God's admiration with pride, but with humility.

A child is humble and trusts his parents, he does not worry or bear grudges in his heart. His heart is not filled with evil, but full of innocence. Therefore, if we must please God in the course of our earthly existence we must aim to be childlike in our behaviour and by so doing we will be counted as one of the greatest in God's kingdom.

We must also be careful in taking care of little children and help them to fulfill their purpose in life. We should not abuse them or treat them badly, but with discipline we should help them to grow with the fear of the Lord and set good examples for them to follow.

We are responsible for certain things in this life and we must work hard everyday to see that we live up to our responsibility. Do not neglect your duty of taking care of the sheep that is placed in your charge. Seek always for the lost sheep and bring them back into the fold and you will make the Lord happy and you will be greatly rewarded when the Lord returns.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a fantastic day. May your trust in the Lord help you to overcome at all times. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
