A WORD FOR TODAY 13 FEBRUARY 2023

*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*GUARD YOUR HEART FROM EVIL*

_"The Lord said to Cain, Why are you angry, and why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is couching at the door; its desire is for you, but you must master it.”(Genesis 4:6-7)_

_*We are created to live for God and to do His will on a daily basis, however, sometimes, we experience the push and drive to choose other things apart from God.*_

_Anyone who belongs to God is expected to be God like in words and actions. The person is to live a life pleasing to God and which brings glory to His name._

_*In order for this to be possible the person must guard his or her heart from evil and strive everyday to be pure in heart and actions. In this way the evil one will not have any opportunity to come into your life and mess it up.*_

_Cain in the first reading killed his brother out of jealousy. He was jealous that his offering was rejected but that of Abel his brother was accepted. This made him angry and his countenance fell. He took him out to the field and killed him._

_*We must learn from this story to be on guard and avoid the things that will make us to lose control of our temper and then try to harm others out of jealousy and anger.*_

_Cain's offering did not meet God's standard and it was rejected. He would have admitted his mistake and make amends, but he refused and in the end he was punished for his actions. If you do what is right you will be accepted by God._

_*If you guard your heart, you will not fall for the traps that will be set for you to fall just as the pharisees did to Jesus. They wanted to trap him by demanding for a sign, but Jesus knowing their plans simply walked away. We must stay watchful always and strive to do well and in this way we shall not give the devil any opportunity to bring us down or destroy us.*_

_Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a blessed day and a wonderful new week. May God help you to stay watchful always. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Genesis 4:1-15,25/Psalm 50:1,8,16-17,20-21/Mark 8 11-13

*Watch-Word:* Give your praise as a sacrifice to God.

*God is ready to accept your gifts if you offer it from a pure heart. Do the right thing and be blessed.*
