A WORD FOR TODAY 13 MARCH 2019

A WORD FOR TODAY

Hearing God's word is not enough, but acting on it is more important. If we hear God's word, but do not make effort to put into practice what we hear, it will all amount to nothing.

The story of Jonah and the people of Nineveh as we see in the first reading simply shows us how far God's love and mercy can go to save His children.

The people sinned against God, but when the Lord sent His messenger Jonah to come and speak to them about their transgression, they listened to God's word and repented and it saved them from the calamity that was to befall them.

We must be open to receive God's word in our heart everyday and allow the word to work in us. We must repent as the people repented when they heard God's word. We must turn a new leaf and reconcile with God.

Jesus is the Word of God and He is in our midst. He is somebody greater than Jonah. We must believe in Him and let Him touch us so that we can change and become better. We must not harden our heart like the wicked generation in the gospel reading who were seeking for a sign while Jesus is before them.

Now is the time to repent of our sins and accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Saviour. No matter what your past has been, acknowledge your sins before Him in humility and with contrition and you will find mercy and the strength to start afresh.*_

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a splendid day. May God's word you hear everyday move you to authentic repentance and reconciliation. Amen. *And May the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

Meditation: Jonah 3:1-10/Psalm 51:3-4,12-13,18-19/Luke 11:29-32

Watch-Word: A humbled contrite heart, O God, you will not spurn.

Let the word of God dwell richly in you and may it move you to repentance and true reconciliation with God and your neighbour.
