*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*CHOOSE THE LIGHT ABOVE DARKNESS

_"For every one who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does what is true comes to the light, that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been wrought in God."(John 3:20-21)._

_*It is a reality of life that the choices we make, will determine the result we get either good or bad. If we make the right choice, we get good results, but if we make the wrong choice, we are also bound to get bad or disappointing results.*_

_We make choices between good and evil, life and death, light and darkness, and whatever we choose has a corresponding result that comes from it. Therefore, before you make the choice of which way to follow, try to be sure of what you want and also be convinced that it will help you to get a good result._

_*In following the way of the Lord, we are bound to make a radical choice between Christ the light of the world and the devil who represents darkness. To choose Christ is to choose life, but to choose the devil is death.*_

_We are called today to make the choice of choosing Jesus above sin and darkness so that we shall be saved. God has shown us love by sending His Son to come and die for us on the cross of calvary in order for us to be saved. He is the light of the world and anyone who believes in Him will not perish, but will have eternal life. Therefore, if you want to be happy on the last day you must choose the way of Christ, which is the way of the cross and the way of love._

_*When we live in sin it shows that we have chosen darkness above light and that will not bring us any good in the end, but sorrow and pain. However, our God who is rich in mercy has shown us great love in Christ. He gave his life to save us from the dominion of darkness and if we open our heart and receive Him, He will transform us, heal us and make us worthy to share in the heavenly banquet.*_

_Jesus has been lifted up for us for our salvation, we must believe in Him, we must come to him with faith and we shall find mercy. If we have lost our way because of sin, He will save us and heal us. Now is the time to choose Him above quarreling, fighting, bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, immorality, hatred, jealousy, greediness, corruption, wickedness and so on. All these are works of darkness and they can never give us eternal life. He is the light and to choose Him is to be in the light and to be saved. Just as king Cyrus called the people to return back to the Lord in the first reading, so is Christ calling us to leave our sinful ways and return back to Him so that we shall find mercy and be saved._

_*When you choose Christ, you choose the light, peace, happiness, love, patience, generosity, compassion, justice, perseverance, kindness, righteousness and humility. All these will help us to live well for God here on earth and be with Him in heaven.*_

*God's love is supreme and His mercy endures forever, come to Him today, choose Him and you will have eternal life.*
