*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*SHOW MERCY AND YOU WILL BE SHOWN MERCY*

_"give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For the measure you give will be the measure you get back.”(Luke 6:38)_

_*Every true Christian seeks to be like Christ in words and deeds. This is our calling and if you believe in it, you must also keep improving on yourself in the area of obedience to God's commandment and in acts of charity.*_

_In the gospel reading of today we are presented with the sermon on the plain. Jesus instructs us to be holy as our heavenly Father is holy. And if we aim to be like the Father, we must follow the golden rule in our actions, that is, to do to others as we would like them do to us._

_*In the application of this rule it means that the measure you give will be the measure you get. If you avoid making judgement or condemning people, you will not be judged or condemned either. If you show forgiveness, you shall receive forgiveness, if you give generously, you shall also be given generously.*_

_This is the way of Christ, do to others what you want them do to you. You should not expect to be treated as a king when you treat others badly without any respect. If you do not forgive and show mercy to those who have offended you, you must not expect to receive mercy and forgiveness from God._

_*This season of Lent is a time to show mercy as never before. Be compassionate and be moved in your heart to help the needy as much as you can without compulsion and in your times of need, you will also find people who will help you.*_

_Push yourself today the more in the areas of goodness, kindness and love and you will treat others well. This will definitely give you the opportunity to receive blessings from God in the end._
