A WORD FOR TODAY

REMEMBER: DO NOT FORGET THE WORKS OF THE LORD

_For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.(John 3:16)_

_*A day like this when we celebrate the Holy Cross on which our Lord paid the price for our salvation, it is most appropriate to reflect deeply on the generosity of the sacrifice made on the Holy Cross as reported by the Gospel of John 3:16.*_

_Often times, it is not really clear to us what the Cross stands for but today's first reading from Numbers 21:4–9 attempts to draw an appropriate picture. The people of Israel inflicted on themselves punishment from God due to their impatience, ingratitude and rebellious complaints against God and his servant Moses. Nevertheless, God forgave and healed them when they gazed at the bronze serpent he invented out of pity for their suffering._

_*Jesus, though he was God, gave himself willfully on the cross of shame to forgive, heal and redeem us from ourself inflicted defects sin caused us personally and the society in general. What a huge humiliation he embraced to give us a chance at a better life here on earth and after life.*_

_It is therefore only right and just to be grateful and not disregard the gift of Salvation purchased on the Holy Cross. _Oh Lord we adore you and we praise you because by your Cross you have redeemed the world._ *We will not forget your marvelous works oh Lord*._

_*From the cross came our Salvation and Jesus' death on it has shown us an example in humility as St. Paul tells us in the second reading. We must therefore, aim to be humble and constantly bear our own cross for the sake of Christ as we journey on earth. The cross stands to remind us what it cost Jesus to redeem us, therefore, we must keep doing good in order to show appreciation to Him for this beautiful gift. In the cross we find healing, forgiveness, liberation, restoration, mercy, freedom, humility, patience, kindness, love and supreme sacrifice.*_

_Let us work hard today that the righteousness God hopes to see in our lives will be evident. Let us work hard to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice of praise by keeping our bodies holy and by doing good always._

_*We adore you O Christ and we praise you, because by yiur holy Cross you have redeemed the world*_

_Good morning dearest one. Smile😊 as you do your work and do have a wonderful day. May the victory of the Cross be evident in your life and family. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Numbers 21:4b–9/Ps 78:1bc-2, 34-35, 36-37, 38/ Phil 2:6–11/ Jn 3:13–17

*Watch-Word:* In the cross, there is forgiveness, healing and salvation

_*The wonder of the Cross is marvellous. Let us celebrate Jesus who is the Lord, to the glory of God the father*_
