A WORD FOR TODAY

NEVER LOSE HOPE, GOD IS COMING TO HELP YOU

The words of the readings of this third Sunday of Advent are words of hope and encouragement. The challenges of life, sometimes, can make us want to abandon our faith in God and give up totally, however, if we listen to the voice of the Lord and act in accordance to His words we shall find the help we need to be able to overcome the difficulties that come to us.

The prophet Isaiah in the first reading reminds the people not to lose heart because God will come to help them and deliver them from their troubles. The coming of our Lord Jesus Christ will restore our joy and gladness and He will turn things around for us. The desert areas of our life shall experience the heavenly dew that will make it to blossom once again like the lily in the valley. All that we need to experience this day is to remain steadfast and wait patiently in hope for the Lord, who will never fail in His promise to His people.

Jesus is coming to open the eyes of the blind and the ears of the deaf. The lame will work again and the the dumb will speak for joy. All these and more will be done by our lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, we need to stay strong in prayers and prepare our hearts to receive Him by doing good and by living a holy life. We must strengthen our weak hands and make our feeble knees strong. Jesus is coming and He will restore our joy and gladness. He will wipe away our tears and He will lift us up again. Stay strong in your faith and never lose hope, because with him all things are possible.

The second reading of today reminds us to put on the virtue of patience as a garment so that we shall be ready when the Lord comes. Impatience could cost us something precious, but one who is patient will be rewarded with the best gift. As we wait for the coming of the Lord we must love one another and eschew every bitterness and grumbling. We must stay hopeful for the Lord must surely come to our aid and He will help us to rise again.

In the gospel reading, Jesus presents Himself to the disciples sent by John as the Messiah. He told them to tell John what they have seen and heard. The blind receive their sight, the dumb speak, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the dead rise again and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. This is His mission as the Messiah and anyone who hope in Him shall find the help he or she needs when you draw near to Him.

Keep your hope alive in Christ for He will never disappoint. He will come to your aid at His own time. Yes, His time will be the best for you because He knows what you need and what will bring you joy. Therefore, never give up on God for He will never give up on you. Let us learn from saint John the Baptist whom Jesus praised in the gospel reading of today to remain humble and committed to our responsibility until the Lord comes. Jesus Christ is coming and if we stay faithful until He comes we shall receive eternal blessings and reward.

Come to Him today with your burdens and pains, tears and disappointments, troubles and worries, sickness and anxiety; Lay them all at his feet in prayers, have faith in Him and do not doubt, because He will help you and your joy and peace shall be restored. In Him is our joy, healing, mercy and total restoration and He will never abandon those who put their trust in Him.
