*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*YOU CAN BE BETTER THAN YOU ARE, IF YOU TRY MORE*

_"In the meantime, when so many thousands of the multitude had gathered together that they trod upon one another, he began to say to his disciples first, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy."(Luke 12:1)_

_*The journey of faith is something you must continue to work upon from time to time so as to become a better person in character and attitude. Once you stop making sincere effort to be good, you will gradually lose your steam and then nosedive into sin.*_

_Sincerity is a virtue and one of the greatest dis-service you can do to yourself is to stop telling yourself the truth. When this becomes the case, you will not have the moral authority and strength to acknowledge your failings._

_*This is the reason Jesus warns His disciples in the gospel reading to avoid the leaven of the Pharisees which is hypocrisy. If they are going to serve Him well here on earth, they must make the extra effort to do what is right and noble and avoid living a fake life.*_

_Hypocrisy involves living a fake life. You say so much and you do so little. You never practice what you preach. This is not the way of Christ. If you connect yourself to Him you must strive to live a holy life. You must be good and also extend the goodness to others._

_*You do not just relax and feel that you will be just fine, you must make extra effort to grow your faith and improve on what you have achieved. You must work out your faith in righteousness and fear of the Lord alone.*_

_Spiritual growth comes with determination and sincerity of purpose. God does not joke with those who are making serious effort in their spiritual life. He gives them the grace to keep achieving greater height always. Therefore, work on yourself more, change your attitude and habit, follow Jesus seriously, fear Him alone and He will take care of you and you will grow in love and win more souls for Him._

_*Today we celebrate the memorial of St Teresa of Ávila (1515 - 1582). She was born in Avila in Spain and entered the carmelite convent at the age of 20. She live a very holy and prayerful life and founded the discalced (shoeless) carmelite nuns in 1562 to signify their devotion to poverty. She spent her life for God and had a very intimate union with God through prayer. Let us learn from her to offer alll things to God in prayer.*_

_Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a lovely day. May Jesus gove you the grace to get better everyday in your journey of faith. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Romans 4:1-8/Psalm 32:1-2,5,11/Luke 12:1-7

*Watch-Word:* May your merciful love be upon us, as we hope in you, O Lord.

_*Keep doing good, keep making sincere effort to follow Christ, He will surely help you to win in the end.*_
