A WORD FOR TODAY

God makes a way for His people in their times of difficulty. We see in the first reading of today how the life of Moses was sparred, because God has a mission for him, that is, he will be an instrument through whom God will save His people from their oppression in the land of Egypt.

He would have been killed by pharaoh just like the other children at that time, but God showed him mercy and made him to find favour in the sight of pharoah's daughter and he was nurtured in the house of the king, but that did not stop him from recognising who he was what his mission will be.

In the gospel reading we see how Jesus reproached the towns in which he performed a lot of miracles because they refused to repent. We must always try to have a good disposition to respond to God's invitation which He extends to us everyday to come follow Him. We must not refuse Him because He alone has the message of eternal life.

Jesus felt pity and sorrow for the city of Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum who had the opportunity of witnessing Jesus' miracles and manifestations of His goodness and still they chose not to do anything and remained indifferent. This is where there sin lies. We are expected not to harden our heart when we hear the voice of God. We should repent of our sins and become a new people for God who has shown us much love by sending His Son to come and die for us.

We hear the Word of God everyday and we are expected to accept it with a good heart and allow it to make an impact in us. We must not close our heart or refuse to repent of our sins, because we have received so much from God and if we do not make a commitment of faith to follow Him till the end, we would have allowed these good works to become a waste.

Now is the time to believe in God more and to show Him through our works and deeds that we appreciate what He has done for us. We must do something practical to show God that He did not make a mistake by creating us. We must have a change of heart and follow the way that leads to life and this will make God to be happy.

Do not take the grace of God for granted. Make effort to seek His face and allow His word to change you for good.
