A WORD FOR TODAY 16 MARCH 2021

*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*LEARN TO HELP OTHERS LIKE JESUS*

_"One man was there, who had been ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew that he had been lying there a long time, he said to him, Do you want to be healed?"(John 5:5-6)_

_*When you fail to take your opportunities when they come your way, you may not be able to achieve your set goal in life. For us to be able to get at what we want, we may try several times, however, so long as we do not give up, we shall definitely be rewarded someday.*_

_The gospel reading of today presents us with the story of the man who had been ill for thirty-eight years. He tried all he could to get into the pool of Bethzatha and be healed, but was not successful, he became helpless and despondent until Jesus came and helped him. It does not matter how long you have suffered in your present condition, if you have faith, you will surely receive help from the Lord._

_*Jesus had pity on him and asked him if he wanted to be healed, but instead of saying yes, he started complaining about how he has been there for so long and no one could help him. In the end Jesus did heal him out of his mercy and made him well again.*_

_God is indeed our sure help in our times of need and anyone who comes to Him must surely find the help that he or she seeks. Jesus is the living water that gives life. Just as the water from the threshold of the temple in the first reading of today gave life to whatever that came in contact with it so is our Lord Jesus the water of life and anyone who comes to Him shall be made well._

_*We must learn from this story to become agents of change and channels of transformation in the world. For thirty-eight years this man has been down and people have been seeing him and no one tried to help him, until Jesus came. We must strive to be sensitive to the plight of others and be of help to them as Christ helps us in our difficult times.*_

_It is only selfishness that will make us to focus on ourselves alone and ignore the pain and agony that others bear and endure. A little show of concern and assistance can go a long way in helping the needy to remain hopeful until they get the solution to their challenge._

_*Jesus comes to our aid when we are down, He forgives our sins, heals our infirmities, gives success to the works of our hands and helps us to rise up unto greatness, we must try to do the same to others especially the weak. Be the healing, forgiveness, mercy, consolation, kindness, compassion and generousity that others seek and you will be like God who is rich in mercy and abundantly gracious.*_

_Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a great day. May Jesus come to your help and heal you from your infirmities, sin and troubles. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Ezekiel 47:1-9,12/Psalm 46:2-3,5-6,8-9/John 5:1-16

*Watch-Word:* Rise, take up your pallet and walk.

*God's help can come to us from different channels, open your eyes and heart so that you will recognise it when it comes.*
