A WORD FOR TODAY 16 MAY 2020

A WORD FOR TODAY 16 MAY 2020

*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*AIM TO BE LIKE THE MASTER*

_"Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also. But all this they will do to you on my account, because they do not know him who sent me"(John 15:20-21)_

_*When someone goes to become an apprentice, it means the person wants to learn a trade or skill from someone who has learnt from someone and has now become a master in that area of specialization. If the apprentice learns well, he or she will become a great master tomorrow and will also have people who will come to learn from him or her. This is very true about our physical endeavour.*_

_However, when it comes to following Jesus as His disciples, we are expected to See Jesus as the Master whom we are going to learn from so as to become good servants. We are definitely going to learn from Him in order to be able to serve the people well and to do the things that will please God._

_*We should be like our Master Jesus Christ in words and deeds and by so doing, people will know that we belong to Him. Jesus made it clear to His disciples in the gospel reading of today that they should not expect anything less than what He experienced in the hands of the people. He experienced persecution, we should also be prepared to be persecuted. He was hated and we should be ready to face such in the hands of the people.*_

_If truly we are children and friends of our Master, Jesus Christ, we must be courageous to be different and to stand alone on the path of righteousness if that be the case. We may suffer and the world will even kill us for not conforming to their standards, but we should hold our heads high and do like our Master and Saviour._

_*The world will love you when you allign yourself to their way and style, however, we must continue to grow in our faith commitment so as to be like Our Master Jesus Christ in all things. We must stand for what is right and we must hold unto the higher values of love, compassion and justice which Jesus stood for, and if we suffer for it, we should be happy because it will bring us joy and heavenly reward in the end.*_

_Do not expect the world to love you when it hated your Master. Always be ready to suffer what the Master suffered in the hands of the people, but remain strong in being the light and in doing good, because you will overcome as He did overcome and your reward will be great in heaven._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a splendid weekend. May Jesus give you the courage to be like Him in words and deeds. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Acts 16:1-10/Psalm 100:1-3,5/John 15:18-21

*Watch-Word:* A servant is not greater than his Master.

_*Strive always to be like the Master, Our Lord Jesus Christ, so that others will learn from you to be like Him also.*_
