A WORD FOR TODAY

FAITH IN ACTION IS THE BEST

If there is one thing that pleases the Lord, it is to see us believe in Him without doubt and to trust Him at all times to be able to take care of us. This will make Him happy and it will definitely be for our own good too.

In the first reading of today we see how the people of Israel rejected God as their king, simply by requesting that they should have a king like the other nations around them. Their desire was simply an expression of lack of faith and ingratitude to God who has been kind and benevolent to them. They got a king in Saul, but they also suffered and paid dearly for rejecting God.

Never let your desire to be like others make you reject your maker and become ungrateful by forgetting all the good He has done for you in the past. A rejection of God and not to have faith in Him will not do us any good, instead it will bring us pain and sorrow.

Faith in action is something very clear in the gospel reading of today, the paralytic was healed by Jesus on account of the faith of the four men who brought him to His presence. The faith of these men were strong to identify in Jesus the one who can help the paralysed man. The obstacle of the crowd could not stop them from pushing through by tearing the roof top so as to get Jesus' attention not for themselves, but for the paralysed man. Jesus forgave his sins and healed him. We can actually be the channel through which God's healing mercy and help can come to others.

Our faith in God should grow stronger everyday and it will become the catalyst for God's miracle to happen in our life. God is always ready to help us and save us if we come to Him, but we must believe without doubt that He will do it. We must never let any obstacle stop us from placing our total trust in Him. We must be ready to grow in our faith because through our faith and prayers a lot of souls will be blessed.

Put your faith into action and be a channel of help to anyone in need of God's touch. Show some compassion and take the persons to Jesus. They may be paralysed by sickness both physical and spiritual, but in Jesus they will find the help, healing and restoration they need.
