A WORD FOR TODAY 17 JUNE 2022

*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*YOUR REAL TREASURE IS THE GOOD YOU DO*

_“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal."(Matthew 6:19-20)_

_*Most times in life we tend to lose consciousness of who we are, what we are here on earth to do and where we are going to in the end. This makes us to behave in a manner that does not help us to reach our heavenly homeland.*_

_Jesus' instructions and exhortation in the gospel reading of today is very loud and clear. Anyone who spends energy acquiring material things and keeping them as the real possessions will be disappointed in the end, because it will be eaten by moth and stolen by thieves._

_*To possess things in this life is not a sin, but when you behave as if your life is meaningless without these material possessions and when you love them and take care of them more than your soul, it simply means that you have lost your way and need to be guided back to the path that leads to eternal life.*_

_Our real treasure should be stored in heaven. We must lay up this treasure through the good we do here on earth. It is simply like saving money in a fixed deposit account. You put in money and it is safe until when you will need it. Every good we do is stored up for us in heaven and we will enjoy it when our earthly mission comes to an end._

_*Our main focus will be to continue to do what is right and to help others as much as we can. We must work for peace, teach the ignorant, comfort the weak and the dying, bring succor to the sick, feed the hungry, cloth the naked, visit those in prison and give water to the thirsty. We must hate everything evil and love all things good.*_

_Your heart will be with God and will desire Him on a daily basis when you begin to build up your treasure in heaven through the good things you do here on earth. Make it a duty to keep growing your heavenly bank account instead of depeleting it through acts of wickedness, selfishness and oppression against others._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a great day. May Jesus give you the grace to store up treasure for yourself in heaven. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* 2 Kings 11:1-4,9-18,20/Psalm 132:11-14,17-18/Matthew 6:19-23

*Watch-Word:* Blessed are the pure in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God.

*Value your soul more than material possession and you will keep laying treasure for yourself in heaven.*
