*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*LISTEN TO THE VOICE OF GOD AND OBEY HIM*

_"The first came before him, saying, Lord, your pound has made ten pounds more. And he said to him, Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very little, you shall have authority over ten cities."(Luke 19:16-17)_

_*Obedience to the Lord's command is always a very good and noble thing to do at all times and in a places where it is required of us. When we obey the Lord, we prove to be His true sons and daughters and the blessings attached to such act will definitely come to us.*_

_In the readings of today we see the message about listening to God's voice and doing what He wants clearly spelt out. In the first reading, we see how the mother of the seven children that were about to be persuaded to abandon the living God, spoke sense into them and they hearkened to her voice and chose to die instead of do what is evil in God's sight._

_*In the gospel reading also we see how those who listened to the voice of the master and put what was given to them into use were rewarded by Him.*._

_To listen is very important, but to act in obedience to God's word is more important. We must constantly strive to listen to God and do what He commands. This will bring us blessings in the end._

_*Our choice to do God's will may come with pain and sorrow sometimes, but the end is always sweet and glorious. God has given us so much and we must hearken to His voice and put our gifts into good use for the good of the world.*_

_Do not act in disobedience to God's word, obey His words always and you will be fulfilled in this life. Reject evil and never choose it over God. Make sure you will become the voice that will guide others in doing what the Lord wants and you will be happy in the end._

_*Today we celebrate the memorial of St Elizabeth of Hungary (1207 - 1231). She was a daughter of the King of Hungary. She was given in marriage to Ludwig, the Landgrave of Thuringia, by whom she had three children. She frequently meditated on heavenly things and when her husband died she embraced poverty and built a hospice in which she cared for the sick herself. Let us learn from her to be good to others especially the needy.*_
