A WORD FOR TODAY 19 APRIL 2019

A WORD FOR TODAY

Today is Good Friday of the Lord's passion. A day we bring before our eyes and mind once again what our Lord Jesus Christ went through in order to bring us salvation. It is called good not because the killing of an innocent man is justifiable, but because the death of Jesus the righteous One on the cross was for the redemption of humanity from the power of sin and death. His death did us a lot of good that can never be quantified.

Jesus was wounded and His wounds became the source of our healing and restoration. He was insulted, derided, betrayed and bruised, but He never retaliated. He remained steadfast and focused until He gave His life on the cross of Calvary, died for our sins and paid the debt we could not pay.

If Jesus who had no sin could die for us, then we must learn from His example to be willing and ready to die everyday through our words and actions in order for others to live. This means that when we make sacrifices that bring good to others, we are simply doing it for Jesus and it will be recorded for us as righteousness.

Jesus carried His cross and died on it. The weight of the cross was our sins, but He carried it and nailed it on the cross. Man out of disobedience fell from grace and destroyed the friendship he enjoyed with God, but Jesus through His act of obedience to the will of the Father died on the cross and restored our friendship with God, conquered the devil and set us free from his stranglehold.

Today, we must raise our consciousness and begin to see the cross as a symbol of our redemption. The way of the cross is the way we should go, because it will lead us to life. On the cross we see God suffer pain and agony for man. On the cross we see God shed His blood and die for man. On the cross we see God forgive man and show Him mercy and on the cross we see God liberate man, heal him and set him free. We should learn from this and do the same to others.

We should strive not to crucify Jesus on the cross the second time through our actions. We must rise up and begin to seek righteousness and how we can begin to represent Jesus and help others to find Him through the things we do. Be obedient, be humble, love without measure, make sacrifices and live a holy life and you will be like Jesus and you will represent Him well.

Good morning dearest one! Participate actively in the celebration of today and let the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross move you to desire to lay down your own life as a ransom for others. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: Isaiah 52:13-53:12/Psalm 31:2,6,12-13,15-17,25/Hebrews 4:14-16;5:7-9/John 18:1-19:42

Watch-Word: Upon Him was the chastisement that made us whole!

Jesus gave everything to redeem us, we must give everything to honour Him and we must choose the way of the cross as the channel to life.
