A WORD FOR TODAY 19 JANUARY 2020

BE THE VOICE OF GOD IN THE WORLD

God did not create us for nothing, He made us with the purpose that we are going to be useful for Him in this life. He made us that we may know Him, love Him, serve Him in this life, so as to live with Him in eternal joy in heaven. If we understand this mission, then we are going to be ready to place ourselves at His service always.

In the first reading of today, we see how the Lord called Israel His servant and the chosen in whom He will be glorified. He will be the light to the nations and through him many will come to be saved. We do not need to be silent or let the gift of God in us stay dormant, we must be the voice of God in the world. We must radiate God's light through our words and actions and others will come to know Him.

To be the voice of the Lord in the world is simply to be His representative and disciple. It means that we are going to speak about God and for God and we are going to help those who are yet to know Him to come to the knowledge of Him. It is a responsibility that must involve humility, obedience and discipline on the part of the disciple who takes up this task.

John the Baptist in the gospel reading of today, became the voice that made the people know Jesus and to follow Him. He knew why he came and what his mission was and He did not waste anytime to let the people see Jesus as the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. In his humility he bore witness to Jesus and many came to follow Christ who is the saviour of the world.

We have been called and chosen to witness for Christ through what we say and do and if you are not doing it, then something is wrong somewhere and you need to identify the problem and fix it with a renewed commitment to keep proclaiming the name of Jesus through what you do and say.

Like John the Baptist we must be ready to point out Jesus to those who come around us and make them to encounter Him. By their encounter, they will be transformed and they will find salvation. Do not let your voice be silent, speak the truth and tell people about Christ who is the saviour of the world. Let your voice speak of the Lord here on earth and at the end of time the voice of Jesus will speak for you before His Father in Heaven.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊and do have a splendid Sunday. May God's grace help you to continue to speak confidently about Christ everywhere and may your actions win souls into His kingdom. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
