A WORD FOR TODAY 19 NOVEMBER 2020

A WORD FOR TODAY*

THE LAMB WAS SLAIN FOR YOU

_“Worthy art you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain and by your blood you ransomed men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on earth.”(Revelation 5:9-10)_

_*The sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary is one that represented the supreme price that was paid for our redemption. He poured out His blood as a ransom for us and He has made us a kingdom of His children to reign on earth.*_

_The Scripture is full of images of the Lamb and whenever it is mentioned from the old dispensation Genesis, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, Isaiah and in the new dispensation also, it is offered as a sacrifice for the expiation of the sins of the people._

The lamb that Abraham sacrificed in place of his son Isaac in Genesis 22 and the lamb led to the slaughter that bore our iniquity as mentioned in Isaiah 53:1-12, were a prefigurement of our Lord Jesus Christ as the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. He gave His life in order for us to be free from sin and death.

_The first reading of today mentions that the lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David has conquered. He was worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals. Worthy is the lamb that was slain for our redemption. He was wounded for our transgressions, was bruised for our iniquities; Upon Him was the chastisement that made us whole and by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)._

We must as a matter of urgency strive to make Jesus not to weep or suffer pain over us again as He wept at seeing Jerusalem as recorded in the gospel reading of today. He has offered so much for us and we must repent of our sins and seek holiness of life and in that way we shall become good disciples who will win souls for Him. We must listen to His voice, and seek to do good always. We must show others the way that leads to life and we must honour the lamb of God through our words and actions.

_Now is the day of salvation, now is the moment of grace and mercy and the time of the visitation of the Lord. We must not let this opportunity pass us by, but we must always strive to draw closer to Jesus who will save us and set us free._

Good morning dearest one. Smile 😊as you do your work and do have a splendid day. May the grace of God help you to live a worthy life for the lamb that was slain for you. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Revelation 5:1-10/Psalm 149:1-6,9/Luke 19:41-44

*Watch-Word:* Today, harden not your hearts, but listen to the Lord.

*The best way to show God that we love Him is to turn away from our evil ways and begin to do good.*
