A WORD FOR TODAY 2 AUGUST 2019

A WORD FOR TODAY

Today Jesus experienced first hand, the attitude of rejection and contempt as a result of familiarity the people had with Him. They could not accept him because they felt they knew his background, parents, siblings, when and where He was born and even the work that His father is doing. This made them to look down on Him and could not accept Him and they lost out on the blessings they would have received from Him.

Whenever we get too familiar with people we may be tempted to begin to look down on them. This simply means that we will tell ourselves that we have seen all we need to see in them and therefore there is nothing they will offer to us anymore. Over familiarity could breed contempt and we should not let that be part of us as children of God, because God can use anybody to bless us at anytime and if we reject them because we know them too well, we will definitely lose the blessings that we crave for.

For God to work His miracle in us we must have a good disposition to accept Him and believe in Him. We must not look down on Him because our salvation and redemption will come from Him.

This should also be seen in our relationship with people. We must not become too familiar with them and begin to look down on them. We must not reject them because we know their background, the language they speak, the work they do and even the persons that gave birth to them. We must learn to respect people and we will find joy and fulfilment in doing that.

Whenever we reject Jesus through our attitude and behaviour, we lose the opportunity to receive His blessings of healing, restoration, transformation and upliftment. This is why Jesus said to them in the gospel reading of today, 'a prophet is only despised in his own country and in his own house'. If we must receive blessings from the Lord, we must accept Him with faith and let His Word take root in us and our miracle will happen.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and di have a wonderful day. May Your faith in Christ make His miracle to be done in your life always. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

Meditation: Leviticus 23:1-4,11,15-16,27,34-37/Psalm 81/Matthew 13:54-58

Watch-Word: Ring out your joy to God our strength.

Opportunities of blessings will come from time to time, but if you do not have a good disposition to receive them, they will pass you by and you will be the loser. Accept Jesus for who He is and your miracle will happen.
