A WORD FOR TODAY 2 AUGUST 2020

A WORD FOR TODAY

BE COMPASSIONATE LIKE JESUS

"Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a lonely place apart. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. As he went ashore he saw a great throng; and he had compassion on them, and healed their sick."(Matthew 14:13-14)_

Life is practically a mystery, because non of us knew when we came and into which family we will be born. This is a decision God makes and He made us to come into the world. We have also come to see as it is said in a proverb that 'all fingers are not equal', yes, but we sure need each other at different times in our lifes to be able to keep moving on so as to actualise our goals and dreams.*_

In the gospel reading of today we see Jesus show compassion to the people even when He was very tired and needed some rest. He withdrew to a lonely place to rest because he was human and needed to recharge Himself so as to continue to do good to the people, it is a time for Him to be with the Father so as to strengthen His mind and soul for the cross that is waiting for Him. We must always create time to move away from the hustling and bustling of life so that we can be strengthened to continue to journey as pilgrims on earth.

He showed compassion to them and fed them. They were more in number, about five thousand compared to the five loaves and two fish that were available, but after His blessings, there was multiplication of loaves and fish and the people ate to their satisfaction and there was left over. This is simply a miracle and miracle happen to those who believe and put their trust in God, do not fix your gaze or focus on your problems, instead, fix your gaze and focus on Jesus, activate your faith in Him and miracle will happen.

When you give things to those who are in need out of compassion, it may be small in your eyes, but for the recipient, it will be simply a miracle, because you have given from a good heart filled with kindness. God is always making provisions for us even in our times of need, because He cares for us. Therefore, always put your trust in Him because He will never fail to take care of you even when human beings fail and disappoint you.

To be compassionate is to have sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it. If you are not ready to let go of something you have, no matter how small, to help the needy you can never be compassionate. You must lose something in order to put a smile on someone's face who is in need. Give God your little and He will turn it to many so that it will be enough for everyone. You can never be poor by helping the needy, therefore always be disposed to help others and show them kindness because you may be the one God has sent to lift them up and be rest assured that in your own time of need God will also provide for you snd send you destiny helpers.

God is compassionate and we need to be compassionate like Him. We must wear it as a garment and show it in our words and actions daily. As God takes care of us daily, we must be ready to add life and not sorrow to people's lives on a daily basis. We must never let our lack and challenges seperate us from God's love, instead we should draw closer to Him and feed our soul with the food that will nourish us so that we shall become more than conquerors and also feed others who may be thirsty and hungry.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you begin your day and do have a miraculous Sunday. May Jesus provide for you do that you will have what you will use to help others who may be in need. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: Isaiah 55:1-3/Psalm 145:8-9,15-18/Romans 8:35,37-39/Matthew 14:13-21

Watch-Word: You give them something to eat.

Selfishness and greed can make you not to be compassionate, therefore, remove it from your life and you will be a generous giver like Jesus.
