A WORD FOR TODAY 2 MARCH 2020

A WORD FOR TODAY

THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS FOR THOSE WHO HELP OTHERS

God's standard of judgement is very different from what we experience in the hands of men. God will not judge us based on how many times we went to Church, how many times we prayed, the society we belong to, the cars we drove, the house we lived in or even how prompt we paid our dues and levies in the Church. Yes, all these and many more are good acts, however, His judgement will be based on what we do with what He has given to us.

The readings of today show us what it truly means to be God-like and an authentic Christian. If we must beat our chest and say that we are friends of Jesus, then it must be seen in our action that we do the things that Jesus will do if He were to be here in the world.

Authentic Christianity is seen in the way we treat others. This will be the basis of God's judgement on the last day. "Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me" If you do the above and do it well without any element of selfishness and pride, then, heaven is assured for you.

If you claim to love God and want to live a holy life, then you must be ready to show that love practically through your action to those who come around you. You must spend your life for the good of others. You must be ready to do something to help others so that they can feel God's love and care through your service and generousity.

Do good to others with what God has given to you and you will be on your way to heaven when your earthly existence will come to an end. Therefore, it is in your hands to open the door of heaven for yourself or close it against yourself. It will all depend on the choice you make, whether to help others with what God has given to you or to hoard it and be stingy with it and then you lose heaven on the last day.

Make use of this lenten season to do good and help the poor and the needy and strive to make it part of your life even after the season has ended so that on the day of judgement you shall not be found wanting.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a merciful day. May God's mercy for you, move you to show mercy to others. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: Leviticus 19:1-2,11-18/Psalm 19:8-10,15/Matthew 25:31-46

Watch-Word: Your words, O Lord are Spirit and life.

Keep doing good to others while you can, for God's judgement will be based on what you do with what He has given to you.*_
