A WORD FOR TODAY 2 MAY 2019

A WORD FOR TODAY

The virtue of obedience is very important in the life of anyone who wants to be a good disciple of Christ. We cannot serve God well if we fail to obey His Words. Today, we see Peter and the apostles stand before the people in the first reading of today to witness for Christ in obedience and with courage even when the council was ready to kill them.

We may face what the apostles faced if we resolve to follow the way of Christ. However, we should always submit under the power of the Holy Spirit and He will help us to become courageous to proclaim Christ even to the point of death.

Every opportunity we get in life should be used to proclaim the name of Christ and to witness and do it well, we must not be afraid of persecution. We must be courageous to stand before those who are anti-Christ and defend our faith in Christ and be willing to lay down our lives for Him as He did for us on the cross of Calvary.

When we obey God we receive blessings and when we disobey Him we lose blessings. Obedience is better than sacrifice and if we always seek to do what God wants above what we desire we will always be happy because Gods will for us is the best._ _*For us to obey God we must make effort at all times to always know Him and to be willing to follow in the part that He has set for us. Obedience to God can cost us our life, but if we remain steadfast till the end we will gain it back. Obedience to the word of the Lord gives life while disobedience makes us to begin to die.

We also learn from the readings of today not to obey those who lead us astray and make us to do what is not right before God even if they are our superiors. We must stand on the side of God always and do only what will please Him and we will be rewarded with eternal life.

Today we celebrate the memorial of saint Athanasius, a bishop and doctor of the Church. He defended the faith with his words and He worked very hard to proclaim the truth about the divinity of Christ when it was being attacked by the Arian factions. Let us learn from Him to be obedient to God and to proclaim our faith without fear.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a blessed day. May Jesus give you grace to always seek to do His will always and to proclaim His name without fear. *Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

meditation:Acts 5:27-33/Psalm 34:2,9,17-20/John 3:31-36

Watch-Word: We must obey God rather than men!

Obedience to God comes with humility and when we act with humility we will be like Christ who humbled Himself and became obedient to the Father to the point of death.
