A WORD FOR TODAY

Gideon was chosen by God as an instrument to deliver the people of Israel from the hands of their captors. He looked at himself as not qualified for that mission because he is from the weakest clan in the community and least in his family, but God told Him not to worry because He will be with him and He will help him to defeat the Midianites.

God makes use of anyone He chooses to achieve greatness in this life. All we need to do is to make ourselves available and let Him use us as He wills. If we submit to the Lord, He will make us strong and the things that make us fearful before will no longer succeed in their quest to hold us down in bondage, because He will be by our side to help us to overcome the forces that may be against us.

We should never give up on God or allow the things we experience in life make us feel that God does not exist or He is incapable of helping us in our challenges or difficulties. Gideon was honest to God in His dialogue with Him and God's response was refreshing and reinvigorating. The Lord gave him peace and strength to overcome. We shall experience the same when we put our trust in God.

In the gospel reading of today Jesus lays bare a truth about life which we must always hold dear in our heart. To follow Him we must be ready to detach ourselves from the things of this life and the sacrifices we make for the sake of Christ here on earth will be rewarded a hundred times over and also we shall inherit eternal life. Therefore, we must try as much as we can to keep making sacrifices for the sake of Christ and to practise self denial, because God will surely give us our reward when the time comes.

Our effort should always be to finish first, because if we do not stay focused and committed to our calling we may end up being the last. Therefore, now is the time to make the decision to continue to do our best not to let the things of this life hold us down so as not to soar higher like the eagle in our faith practise and commitments, but to keep doing God's will everyday so that when the end comes we shall be found worthy to be among the first who will inherit the kingdom of heaven.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you begin your day and do have a fantastic day. May God's grace help you to keep doing your best to serve Him in this life so that you will gain eternal life in the end. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
