A WORD FOR TODAY

CHOOSE GOD ABOVE MATERIAL THINGS

_“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field."(Matthew 13:44)_

_*Today the Church celebrates the feast of Blessed Michael Iwene Tansi. He was a priest of Nigerian origin who dedicated His life in serving the people and when his bishop made a demand for one of his priests to volunteer to become a monk with a view to establishing a monastery in his diocese, Fr. Tansi accepted and he went on to become a monk who gave his life in prayers, Meditations and works of charity.*_

_Blessed Cyprain Iwene Tansi was very dedicated and industrious and he chose God above earthly and material things. He learnt humility from Jesus and was able to apply it in his dealings with others. He had a fruitful ministry in teaching, preaching and guiding the young ones in the path of righteousness._

_*In the gospel reading of today Jesus told two parables to His disciples and they are parables that explain the person of Blessed Michael Iwene Tansi. He is the man who found God as a treasure, chose Him and then went and sold everything He had in order to have Him. He is also like a merchant who found a fine pearl and he sold everything he had to buy it.*_

_If we accept to follow the way of God we must constantly make effort to choose God above other things of this life. We must love Him and value Him and we should never leave Him to settle for anything less. God is the greatest and He who finds Him has found the best and He who follows Him will surely gain eternal life._

_*We are encouraged in the first reading of today by saint Paul to have the same mind which was in Christ Jesus. A heart of humility and love that will be ready to place oneself at the service of others. If we want to be like Jesus we must be ready to die so that others through us may find life.*_

_Let us like Blessed Tansi seek the Lord with our heart and as we find Him, may we be ready and willing to share Him with others. May we serve Him well on earth so as to live with Him in heaven._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a blessed day. May God give you the grace to love Him above everyother thing in this life. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Philippians 2:1-11/Psalm 12:2-6/Matthew 13:44-46

*Watch-Word:* Jesus humbled Himself and became obedient unto death

*Choose God above the things of this life and you will be happy and satisfied at the end of time.*
