A WORD FOR TODAY

Peace is a gift that comes from God to us and our Lord Jesus Christ in the gospel reading of today bequeathed it to His disciples. The peace that comes from God is such that the world cannot give to us, but it is a lasting peace and if we possess it, our hearts will be joyful always.

Jesus gave his disciples peace, because the things they would experience in this life might make them afraid and their hearts will become troubled. He gave them peace to calm the situations around them so that they will be able to go out and witness for Him.

If we do not have peace in our hearts, it will be difficult for us to witness for Christ. To have peace does not mean that we may not experience hardship or difficulties, but in those times our hearts will not be troubled because we know that God will see us through and He will always be with us.

The inner peace that can help us to be calm and serene in the face of trouble and to continue to proclaim Christ despite our worries and anxieties would only come from Jesus who is the prince of peace. If we open our heart to Him and ask Him for it, He will give it to us freely because He is a generous giver.

The peace that the world gives could come from wealth, pleasure, status and other material acquisitions, but this can never give us satisfaction when compared to the peace that Christ gives. Infact, we may possess all that the world offers and still feel empty, weak and unhappy and we will not be able to witness for Jesus.

Now is the time to open our hearts to Jesus and submit to Him so that He can come into us and give us the gift of peace that will make us go out and proclaim His name despite the challenges and persecutions that may come our way. We need this peace in our lives, homes, nations, communities, work and business places and so on. Only God can give true and authentic peace and we must hold unto Him firmly if we want that peace.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a magnificent day. May the peace of the Lord come upon you and calm the storms that rage around you. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: Acts 14:19-28/Psalm 145:10-13,21/John 14:27-31

Watch-Word: Peace I bequeath to you, my own peace I give you.

Jesus gives us the gift of peace and when we possess this peace we shall go out and proclaim His name without fear. Peace is possible!
