A WORD FOR TODAY 22 DEC 2018

To pray is an easy thing to do, but to remember to be grateful and show appreciation to God by way of thanksgiving when our prayer is answered is where the matter lies. How grateful are you to God  and to your fellow human beings for the blessings and favours you have received from them respectively.

 The story of Hannah in the first reading from the book of Samuel and that of our Blessed Mother Mary who sang the magnificat in the gospel reading of today teaches us a very important lesson on appreciation, gratitude, thanksgiving and praise.

 The Lord did something for them and they were able to come back to Him to offer their thanks. They recognised that it was the power of God that made it possible for them to have what they have.

 The season of Christmas should be a moment of thanksgiving from us to God for giving us the gift of His only begotten Son and also to appreciate Him for His goodness, mercy, protection and provisions through the year which is about to come to an end. We must give thanks to God always for prayers answered, because the Lord is always doing something for us.

 To be ungrateful is simply wickedness and that is not characteristic of those who truly love God and believe in Him. If you can be humble enough to pray for your need, then be humble enough to thank God for supplying your needs according to His riches in glory.

 What are you waiting for to sing a song of joy to the Lord? What are you waiting for to go to the house of the Lord and present your gift of thanksgiving to the Lord? You cannot deny that the Lord has not done anything for you, reflect on the journey of your life so far and you will agree with me that greatest gift you have from the Lord today is the gift of life. Thank Him for it and many more blessings shall follow you.

 Do not be Mr or Mrs 'chop' (eat) and clean mouth, rather, give thanks to God always for providing you with the food you eat and see how you can share God's joy with others  and make them to feel God's presence.

 A grateful heart is pleasing to the Lord, but an ungrateful heart the Lord detests. #Be grateful and give thanks to God always!
