A WORD FOR TODAY 22 DECEMBER 2019

A WORD FOR TODAY

THY WILL BE DONE IN MY LIFE, O LORD.

God is God and He is not man. Whatever He does is always the best because He knows and can see the future more than us. He knows our beginning and our end. Therefore, anyone who wants to fulfil his or her purpose in life must be humble to submit to God and let His will be done.

Sometimes we desire things and want it to be done as we have desired it, but God may have other plans for us. If we do not submit to let His will be done, we may end up not being happy because we may have made the wrong choice. To have a desire or want for something is not wrong, but when our desire and choice is not in accordance with God's will, there will always be a problem.

God's promise in the first reading of today from the book of Isaiah that a virgin will conceive came to be fulfilled in the new testament as we have it recorded in the gospel reading of today from the book of Matthew. Both Mary and Joseph faced the challenge of choosing between God's will and their personal desires, but through God's grace they accepted God's will and that was the best thing they could ever do.

To pray for God's will to be done in our lives is the best form of prayer and if we pray such prayer we will never be disappointed or unhappy, because we shall put our total trust in the Lord knowing that He will take care of us and whatever He has planned for our life will definitely come to fulfilment and whatever He gives us will be the best for us.

The will of God was that Mary will be the Mother of Jesus and that Joseph will be the foster father of Jesus and when both Mary and Joseph were made to understand what God has planned for them, they both gave their consent and allowed God to make use of them. they let go of their already made plans to accept God's own plan which was not just for their good alone, but for the whole world. They both became vessels through which God blessed the world and the same will happen to anyone who submits Himself to be used by God and by letting His will be done..

Do not insist on what you want in life, but on what God's will for your life is. You must be ready to let His will be done. We may pass through various challenges in accepting His will, but in the end, He will show us that His will is the best for us.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you begin your day and do have a blessed Sunday. May God's grace help you to be ready to accept God's will in your life at all times. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: Isaiah 7:10-14/Psalm 24:1-6/Romans 1:1-7/Matthew 1:18-24

Watch-Word: Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son; and His name shall be called Emmanuel: God is with us.

You can make your plans and pray for your needs, but do not forget to say at the end of your prayer, Lord, let your will be done in my life.
